Business Studies (Level 2) - Level 2
This is a Level 2 course and is the equivalent of one GCSE. The nature of BTEC courses is to engage students in taking responsibility for their own learning, and develop essential work-related skills such as working to deadlines and presenting information effectively. The course motivates students and opens doors to progression into further study or the workplace.
Aims of the course
This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop a range of knowledge in an applied work related context, whilst developing and applying their English and mathematics skills.

Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World
Unit 2: Finance for Business
Unit 3: Promoting a Brand
Unit 4: Principles of Customer Service
Unit 5: Sales and Personal Selling
Unit 6: Introduction to Retail Business
Assessment
The course is made up of compulsory units and optional units. Students are assessed from the submission of their written profiles and an external online assessment (25% of overall qualification).
External exam: 25%
There are two external exams; Unit 2: Finance for Business and Unit 9: Principles of Marketing, which will be assessed by an online test and examined by Edexcel.
Coursework: 75%
Students are to produce written profiles for the units they complete, which will require research based on the brief and planning their writing for the individual tasks.
Students will be graded for this Level 2 qualification: Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*
Entry Requirements
Student require 5 A* - E GCSEs or equivalent.
