Amina Yr 13 student took some time to answers some questions about her experiences at HPS6F.

Why did you apply to HPS6F?

I applied to HPS6F because I wanted to study Art and Construction and wanted to learn something new and different as I arrived to the UK in 2017 with my sister.

What have you enjoyed the most whilst studying your subjects?

I have really enjoyed Construction, Carpentry Level 1 and 2. I have so far enjoyed making a mock roof which took 6 hours to put together, having to work out the size and shape.

Have you had any challenges and how did you overcome them?

My biggest challenge was building the roof to a tight deadline and being able to prioritise and plan my time to complete it on time.

How would you encourage a student thinking of applying here? What would you say?

I would like to tell a new student applying here that the courses and teachers are very supportive and understanding and the teaching is very good.

How have you managed to keep on track with work through lockdown? Has it been easy or challenging?

Online teaching was a challenge for the first few weeks but I was able to manage and complete the work with the support of my teachers.

Where would you like to see yourself by the end of the course?

A construction apprenticeship. I want to further my experiences with a subject I enjoy studying.
